January 2, 2021 02:25 PM

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Friday kept the last date for filing tax returns unchanged.

Around 2.3 million Pakistanis filed their tax returns by December 31, the last date for filing tax returns for the last fiscal year. This is the first time in years that the FBR has not extended the deadline for filing tax returns. The FBR has collected R43.5 billion tax along with these tax returns.

Last year, 21.73 people had filed tax returns. The tax collected last year was Rs28 billion. The FBR says it has collected 55 percent more tax this year compared to the last fiscal year.
