Girl killed after hit by bullet fired in police encounter in Karachi

A 17-year-old girl who was the only sister of two brothers lost her life when she was hit by a bullet fired during an ongoing police encounter in Karachi on Friday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Rescue spokesman Shahid said that the incident took place in the Landhi No. 6 area of Karachi. The dead girl was later identified as Komal. 

The family members of Komal said that the ill-fated girl was going to her home after meeting her grandmother.

Komal was riding in a rickshaw when a stray bullet hit her after shattering the glass. The family members of the girl said that some policemen who were present on the site told them that a police encounter was under way.

The rescue spokesman said that the mother of the girl first asked him to take them to Chiragh Hotel and then Landhi No. 6.

Rescue spokesman further revealed that there was no information of any police encounter in the area.

The police are investigating the incident.
