Punjab introduces province-wide performance monitoring system to improve public services

The Punjab government has introduced a new performance monitoring system across the province aimed at improving service delivery, accountability, and the prompt resolution of public complaints, officials said Friday.

Under the new mechanism, inspection teams working under the Punjab Chief Minister will monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across the province. The KPIs, developed for 22 different sectors, have been implemented to closely track issues affecting the public.

According to officials, the monitoring will cover essential areas including the availability and quality of bread and other essential commodities, road conditions, as well as services in hospitals and schools.

Performance assessments will be carried out through on-ground monitoring teams deployed in each district. In addition, inputs from the Special Branch, as well as reports from mainstream media and social media platforms, will also be incorporated into the evaluation process.

The entire province will further be monitored through live feeds from Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) cameras to ensure real-time oversight, officials said.

Officials said the primary objective of the new system is to bring about immediate reforms and strengthen accountability within government departments.

They added that the initiative is expected to help in the swift resolution of public complaints and improve overall governance standards across Punjab.
