Zimbabwe announce T20 World Cup squad with Cremer, Taylor, and Muzarabani

Zimbabwe veteran legspinner Graeme Cremer, who recently made a remarkable comeback to the national team after seven years at the age of 39, has been named in the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday. 

 Cremer returned to Zimbabwe last year, impressed in club competitions, and earned a recall for the home series against Afghanistan late last year.

The legspinner featured in a few matches during the T20I tri-series in Pakistan and is set to be Zimbabwe’s frontline spin option alongside Wellington Masakadza and captain Sikandar Raza.

Cremer is not the only senior player retained, as Brendan Taylor, who turns 40 a day before the tournament begins, will also feature following a successful comeback.

Pace spearhead Blessing Muzarabani, who missed the tri-series due to injury, has regained fitness and will lead the bowling attack, which includes newly appointed ODI and Test skipper Richard Ngarava, Bradley Evans, and Tinotenda Maposa.

Zimbabwe, who missed the 2024 edition, have been placed in Group B alongside Australia, Ireland, Oman, and co-hosts Sri Lanka.

The team opens their campaign against Oman on February 9, with all group-stage matches to be played in Sri Lanka.
