Illegal plots allotment to Farah Gogi: two accused to be presented before court

July 2, 2022 04:24 PM

Former chief executive officer (CEO) of Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (FIEDMC) Rana Muhammad Yousuf and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) committee secretary Maqsood Ahmad who were arrested yesterday on the charges of illegally selling an industrial land at a rate far less than its actual price to Farah Gogi, will be presented before the special court, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. .

Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Friday booked Farhat Shahzadi alias Farah Gogi, a close friend of former first lady Bushra Bibi, and her mother in a case of illegal allotment of two industrial plots, measuring 10 acres. The former CEO of FIEDMC and the SEZ committee secretary allegedly manipulated to sell plots whose market price was Rs600 million for just Rs80 million to Farah Gogi.

The FIEDMIC Board of Directors, too, have constituted an inquiry committee to launch a probe into the allegations.

Former National Assembly speaker and PML-N leader Ayaz Sadiq pointed out the corruption in the Special Economic Zone.

The anti-corruption department also initiated a probe into the development of Mongolia Housing Society in Gujranwala by Ghausia Builders, the construction firm owned by Gogi, whose plots she had allegedly sold despite the fact that they never existed.

For that, sources added, the department had sought record from the Gujranwala Development Authority as well.

The ACE started an inquiry against Gogi following complaints received from the people affected by the alleged scam.

Ever since the PTI is out of power, Gogi has been under the PML-N-led coalition government’s scanner, which gives the impression that the new government wants to settle scores with former prime minister Imran Khan, whose wife Bushra is Gogi’s close friend.

Initially, it was on April 28, 2022 that 24News had reported that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had launched an inquiry against her.
