Assistant commissioner among four killed in Bajaur bomb blast, funeral prayers offered
Four people including an assistant commissioner and a subedar were killed in a powerful bomb explosion in Bajaur District on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
At least 11 people were also injured in the blast targeting an official vehicle carrying the assistant commissioner of Nawagayi.
The government vehicle was hit on Nawagayi Road near Mela Railway Crossing in Khar Tehsil.
Among those martyred were the assistant commissioner of Nawagai, a police subedar, another police officer and a passerby.
Security officials said the nature of the explosion was being investigated, but initial reports suggested it was an improvised explosive device (IED) planted to target the government vehicle.
Security forces and rescue teams swiftly arrived at the site, cordoned off the area and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment. Several of the wounded were said to be in a critical condition.
Meanwhile, the funeral prayers of all of the victim was offered in Bajur which was attended by DC Bajur, DPO Bajur, Commandant of the military and other concerned officers.
On the occasion, police contingent saluted the martyrs while the Deputy Commissioner, DPO laid wreaths on the bodies of the martyrs. After offering the funeral prayers, the bodies of the martyrs were sent to their native areas where martyred will be buried with state honor.
