Jail officials to arrange families’ meetings with inmates on Eid

On the eve of Eid-ul-Azha, Punjab government has directed jail administrations across the province to arrange meetings of families with jail inmates, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz gave these directives to IGP Prisons Punjab Mian Farooq Nazir while chairing a meeting to review prisoners' conditions.

The prisoners’ families can bring sweets and food items for their loved ones. Families of prisoners can meet them on the first and second day of Eid-ul-Azha from 9:00am to 5pm.

The facility of phone calls with their family members was also made available for prisoners, even on the second day of Eid. On the occasion of the special meeting, only parents, sister/brother, sons/daughters, and wives should be allowed to meet; no other relatives and friends should be allowed to meet.

Superintendent Jail, Deputy Superintendent Jail, and other duty officers should visit the waiting room and meeting shed to redress complaints on the spot. The families thanked CM Maryam Nawaz for allowing them to meet with their Cherished ones.
