Red chili prices plunge by Rs 10,000 per maund in Multan’s Grain Market

In a rare development ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, the wholesale price of red chili in Multan’s Ghala Mandi has witnessed a dramatic decrease of Rs 10,000 per maund, bringing the current rate down from Rs 25,000 to Rs 15,000 per maund. This significant price cut has come as a surprise to both traders and consumers.

Speaking exclusively to Rohi News, Raja Mudasir, President of Ghala Mandi Main Gate, attributed the price drop to a strong red chili harvest this season in both Punjab and Sindh.

He explained that two successful chili crops from Punjab have already arrived in the market, substantially boosting supply.

“This is the first time that red chili prices have fallen around Eid,” said Raja Mudasir.

“The availability of high volumes in the wholesale market has led to this unexpected relief for buyers.”

Market insiders also noted that a favorable climate, improved farming practices, and timely harvesting have contributed to the bountiful yields, particularly of the Sindhi and Punjabi chili varieties, which are now abundantly available in the Multan market.

The drop in chili prices is expected to positively impact consumers and small-scale traders who rely on bulk purchases for Eid-related food preparations and commercial cooking needs.
