Bangladesh FM elected 81st president of UN General Assembly

Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman has been named the 81st President of the United Nations General Assembly.

Dr Khalilur Rahman was elected after defeating Andreas S. Kakouris of Cyprus in the voting process.

He will succeed the current President of the General Assembly, Annalena Baerbock, who previously served as Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The development is being viewed as a significant diplomatic achievement for Bangladesh in the international arena.
