Dreams of 101,633 homeless families in Punjab realised
The dreams of 101,633 homeless families in Punjab have been given a roof, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
This was briefed by Director General PHATA Sikandar Zeeshan about the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar programme in a meeting chaired by Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin.
According to the briefing, more than Rs208 billion interest-free loans were provided under the Punjab Chief Minister’s Apni Chhat Apna Ghar programme.
Interest-free loans issued to more than 156,000 families for the construction of houses while 32,412 houses are under construction and 7792 more families will be given interest-free loans soon.
The meeting reviewed the statistics related to the distribution of loans, constructed houses and pending applications.
Minister Housing Bilal Yasin directed to further expand the scope of the program in urban and rural areas.
Bilal Yasin said the promise of interest-free loans to 100,000 more families will be fulfilled in the new financial year.
Families who have laid the foundation for a better future have become homeowners from tenants, Bilal Yasin said.
He said Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar programme is an important step towards public welfare and social development.
The vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab is to provide every deserving family with their own roof, Bilal Yasin said.
