Muslim nations slam Israeli actions at Al-Aqsa Mosque

Foreign ministers of eight Arab and Islamic countries, including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye, have strongly condemned Israeli actions at Al-Aqsa Mosque, terming them provocative and a violation of international law and UN resolutions.

In a joint declaration on the case of Israeli provocation at Al-Aqsa Mosque, the foreign ministers of Muslim countries stated that the 144-dunam compound of Al-Aqsa Mosque is exclusively a place of worship for Muslims. The statement emphasized that Jordan’s Department of Awqaf is the sole legal authority responsible for the management of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The declaration said that any attempt to change the historical and legal status of occupied Jerusalem is unacceptable. It added that Israel must immediately end all illegal and provocative actions.

The foreign ministers stated that extremist infiltration and the hoisting of flags at the holy site amount to actions that fuel tensions and escalate instability in the region.

Reiterating their collective stance, the countries reaffirmed support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

The statement said Israeli actions constitute a clear violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions, adding that attempts to undermine the sanctity of holy sites pose a serious threat to global peace and stability.
