ECP seeks lists of ROs, DROs, AROs for Punjab, KP elections

As part of preparations for elections to the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) assemblies in the light of the Supreme Court (SC) verdict, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday sought from district administrations the lists of deputy returning officers (DROs) and assistant returning officers (AROs), reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

Sources told 24News TV channel that the ECP also sent a letter to the provincial election commissioners. It also decided to start training of master trainers next week, they said, and added for that a list of 40 master trainers had been prepared. 

Senior election commission officials would train master trainers at the ECP secretariat. Their training would be completed in three to four days, sources explained. 

These trainers will then impart training to the returning officers (RO), DROs, and AROs. 

Important ECP’s meeting today

Similarly, an important meeting of the ECP is due to take place today at 2:00 PM. 

Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja will chair the meeting. 

Members of the ECP, secretary, will attend the meeting. 

Sources told 24News that the election commission’s Law Wing would brief the meeting about the legal aspects of yesterday’s Supreme Court verdict on elections.

Similarly, they added, the meeting would also mull over again holding consultations with the president and the KP governor on the subject.

Likewise, consultations would be held over writing letters to the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Finance.
