13-year-old child dies during police custody in Rawalpindi
A 13-year-old boy named Salman died due to police torture during Rawalpindi's Naseerabad Police Station's custody, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
The father of the boy said that the Naseerabad Police Station team took his son into custody on February 25, 2025, without any reason.
The police did not even inform them whether there was a case registered against the boy or not. He went on to say that he started searching for his son.
Later, police informed them that they could collect the dead body of their son from a hospital. He also accused SHO for his son’s death.
He appealed to higher authorities to take notice of his son’s death in police custody and provide him justice.
Further investigation was underway.
A spokesman of Rawalpindi police strongly denied allegations that accused Salman was died due to police torture while in police custody. He further revealed that the accused Salman was died in police encounter. The spokesman said that the accused was wanted by police as several cases of robbery were registered against the accused.
Earlier, on February 13, 2025, a 12-year-old housemaid who was brutally tortured by a couple in the jurisdiction of Bani Police Station succumbed to her injuries.
City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani took notice of the incident and directed SP Rawal to submit a detailed report. Acting immediately, the police have taken the accused couple into custody, and an investigation is underway.
According to initial findings, the incident of violence occurred four to five days ago, but the victim was only brought to the hospital today. The girl's condition remains critical, and doctors are continuing treatment.
Tragically, the young victim had already lost her father. Authorities have confirmed that a case will be registered against the accused, ensuring strict legal action.
