Jemima Goldsmith fined £1,000 over speed violation

Jemima Goldsmith, the former wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, has been fined £1,000 following a speeding violation involving a vehicle registered in her name in London, United Kingdom. 

The penalty, however, was not solely for the traffic offence itself but primarily for failing to respond to an official police notice related to the incident.

According to reports, authorities issued the fine after no response was received regarding the speeding ticket.

Goldsmith later explained that extensive renovation work at her residence led to the oversight.

She stated that ongoing construction and decorating work resulted in important mail being misplaced among building materials, leaving her unaware of the police correspondence until months later.

Clarifying her position, Goldsmith maintained that she was not driving the vehicle at the time of the violation.

The car was reportedly being used by a builder. However, as the registered owner, she remained legally responsible for responding to official communication concerning the vehicle.

The failure to do so ultimately resulted in the substantial fine. 

Sources indicate that Goldsmith acknowledged the mistake regarding the missed notice and accepted the penalty without contest.

The case highlights the legal obligation vehicle owners have to respond promptly to traffic related inquiries, regardless of who may have been behind the wheel.
