PCB mulls Rs5m fine on players responsible for T20 World Cup debacle

Pakistan’s poor performance in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup could lead to strict action, as PCB officials are considering a fine of Rs5 million for each player, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday. 

Sources familiar with the development said, most members of the team may face heavy financial penalties as part of efforts to hold them accountable after their early exit from the tournament.

Pakistan were knocked out after a series of disappointing performances that brought strong criticism from fans and former cricketers.

However, the decision is not simple.

There are some complications, and discussions are ongoing about rules and contract conditions, especially because the players have central contracts.

Officials are also reviewing the legal side of these contracts to see whether such fines can be imposed and under what rules.

The possible fines showed that there is increasing pressure within Pakistan cricket to ensure responsibility and better results after the team’s disappointing World Cup campaign.
