The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the National Assembly (NA) Chairman Noor Alam Khan made an announcement in the House that he will issue an arrest warrant if the Supreme Court (SC) Registrar will not appear before his committee as per the constitution.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the PAC chairman addressed the NA on Tuesday and demanded the Speaker that any record should not be given to the SC.
He said, he has summoned the Principal Accounting Officer (Registrar) of the Supreme Court and if he failed to appear before the PAC, an arrest warrant of him will be issued as the Constitution allows him to do so.
Addressing the NA Speaker, Noor Alam Khan said if they (lawmakers) can give every type of account then why can't they [judiciary] give their account?
Taking a tit-for-tat stance, he announced that they are ready to give the record, but let the Supreme Court give it to them first.
He added that they have asked the SC for giving the details of who has taken how many plots and vehicles, but it is not giving from them.
He also said that Home Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan should take the record of plots of the judiciary from the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
Noor Alam Khan also read out the constitution related to the proceedings of the Parliament in the House and said the 1973 constitution says any member who speaks in Parliament cannot be summoned from any court.
As well as the officers of the National Assembly are also not bound to submit the proceedings of the Parliament to any court, he added.
The constitution of Pakistan clearly says that PAC or any committee of the NA can ask the court for records and check the documents of any court ministry or institution.
