Pakistan’s trade deficit in April jumps 36pc

Pakistan’s trade deficit in April 2025 increased by record 36 percent on a year-on-year basis to $3.38 billion, compared to a deficit of $2.495 billion in the same month of the previous fiscal year, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel. 

According to data issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Friday, the deficit in April 2025 is the highest monthly trade deficit in 3 years. 

On a month-on-month basis, the trade deficit surged 55 percent compared to deficit of $2.18 billion reported in March 2025. 

Exports in April 2025 stood at $2.14 billion, down 9 percent year-on-year and 19 percent month-on-month. Imports during month came in at $5.52 billion, up 14 percent year-on-year and 15 percent month-on-month. 

For 10MFY25, the trade deficit stood at $21.351 billion, up 9 percent over trade deficit of $19.62 billion reported in 10MFY24.
