An accountability court in Lahore Monday decided to indict Opposition Leader in National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif and others in money laundering case on November 11, reported 24NewsHD TV channel reported.

The TV channel reported Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif and Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz were brought to the court in an armoured vehicle.

Shahbaz Sharif’s lawyer Amjad Pevaiz appraised the court that his client’s backache has worsened. The TV channel reported the father and son were taken to the court in separate armoured vehicles

The court adjourned the hearing till November 11.

Separately, Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif had a telephonic conversation in the accountability court, the TV channel said quoting its sources.

In the telephone call, PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif talked about Shahbaz Sharif's health and termed bringing of Shahbaz Sharif in an armoured vehicle as a peak of PTI government's revenge.

The sources claimed Nawaz Sharif encouraged his younger brother Shahbaz Sharif and appreciated his determination.

The TV channel reported Shahbaz also briefed his elder brother about his case and the investigation so far. “Hamza Shahbaz also talked to his uncle Nawaz Sharif on a telephone call,” the sources maintained.

It has also been reported that PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz also arrived at the court and met Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz.

Earlier, An accountability court in Lahore extended the judicial remand of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz in the money laundering reference, as the jail authorities were ordered to provide a bed to the leader of the opposition on Tuesday.

On the other hand, the court postponed the indictment process as the copies of the four approvers’ statements were not provided to the defence counsel.

Before adjourning the proceedings till November 2, the accountability court judge, Jawad-ul-Hassan, directed the prosecution to ensure that the defence had the statement’s copies before the next hearing date.

However, the decision on exempting Nusrat Shehbaz – the wife of PML-N president – from hearing on medical grounds was reserved after the two sides presented their arguments on the matter. Nusrat is currently in London as the defence counsel said her medical reports were attested by an attaché at the Pakistan High Commission in London.

Shehbaz Sharif has been spending his time in a NAB prison by reading international relations and political science books.

PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif has been reading Erdogan's Empire: Turkey and the Politics of the Middle East book by Soner Cagaptay. Mussolini's War: Fascist Italy from Triumph to Collapse penned by John Gooch.

The leader of the Opposition was provided with a book on his request: Twilight of Democracy: The Seductive Lure of Authoritarianism by Anne Applebaum.

The Twilight Democracy is a 2020 book that discusses the democratic decline and the rise of right-wing populist politics with authoritarian tendencies, with three main case studies: Poland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
