WB index exposes govt’s tricky statements over price hike

World Bank’s per capita index placed Pakistan on 177 out 209 states, exposing the government’s tricky statements to cover up its failure to deliver, reported 24NewsHD TV on Tuesday.

The government team has been going for citing examples of other states to justify price hikes of essential commodities like fuel and foodstuff. All other regional countries have left Pakistan behind, according to the World Bank.

Pakistan's per capita income last year was  $1,194. On the other side, India's per capita income last year was 1,901, Bangladesh $1,969, Bhutan $3,122, Indonesia $3870. The Maldives had a per capita income of $7,456 and China’s per capita income last year was $10,500 last year.

According to the World Bank, Namibia had an average per capita income of $4,211 last year, Senegal $1,488 and Congo 1,973. The Maldives had a per capita income of 7,456 and China $10,500 last year.
