The issue of AMI smart single-phase meters in LESCO became more complicated due to the outsourcing of meter manufacturing companies, reported 24News HD Channel on Sunday.
Sources said that a deadlock emerged between LESCO and the meter manufacturing companies.
Sources further revealed that after the deadlock, no meter was installed for the last month.
LESCO, on October 6, 2025, issued a notification for the purchase of AMI Smart Meters. The consumers were asked to deposit the meters in regional stores to hand them over to the relevant XENS.
Consumers were bound to be issued meters from LESCO's system after purchasing from the market.
Sources said that meter manufacturing companies have refused to deposit meters in regional stores.
Deadlock between companies forces consumers to seek a non-objection certificate (NOC).
