Pakistan urgently requires prudent leadership to overcome extremely alarming AJK situation: Ch Sarwar

Former Punjab governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has termed the prevailing situation in Kashmir “extremely alarming,” warning that Pakistan urgently requires prudent leadership and a clear strategy to prevent the crisis from escalating further.

In a statement, Sarwar criticised the government for relying on the use of force instead of pursuing “an immediate and comprehensive solution” to the long-standing demands of the Kashmiri people. He said this approach had pushed the situation to a point where “precious lives are being lost.”

Calling for immediate dialogue with Kashmiri leaders, Sarwar stressed that sustainable peace and stability in the region could only be achieved by guaranteeing their rights. He said his five decades of work with the Kashmiri community had reinforced his belief in their “unwavering loyalty, love and steadfastness” toward Pakistan.

Expressing deep concern, the former governor urged the government to “come to its senses” and prioritise negotiations with all stakeholders to resolve the crisis without further delay.
