There should be no politics on Kalabagh Dam, says KP CM Gandapur
Suggests building dam at Munda to save people from being displaced
Pointing out that the non-construction of dams proved costly for the country’s agriculture sector, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said on Tuesday that the Kalabagh Dam could bring a revolution in the sector, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking to the media, the chief minister said that there should be no politics on the dam, which, if built, could prove to be an asset for the country. “Therefore, we should work on it,” he asserted.
He further said that the share of each province in the country’s water resources was fixed. “No province would be deprived of its share in the water resources due to the construction of the dam,” the CM said, and added, “The dam will benefit KP, the Punjab and Sindh.”
He thought, Gandapur went on to say, that if the dam would be built at Munda, the population would not have to be displaced. “We should bear this thing in mind that people had to be relocated to other places when Tarbela and Mangla dams were built.”
The chief minister was of the view that the provincial government was not fully prepared to combat terrorism. “In Bajaur, people not only pay ransom to the Taliban, but also serve them food,” the chief minister disclosed.
He said that the Taliban had grown in numbers in Bajaur.
