The government has not removed Petroleum Secretary Asad Hayauddin from his post. PM Imran Khan ordered the removal over last year’s petrol crisis.
He has decided to go on leave for three months and cancelled his scheduled meetings, according to sources. The establishment division has sent the summary of sending him on leave for three months to the prime minister office.
In June last year, hoarders created an artificial petrol shortage making oil companies resort to lower imports and adding to public problems. Last week Prime Minister Imran Khan removed special assistant on petroleum Nadeem Babar and Asad. The premier ordered a forensic probe, a top minister said.
