Local PTI leader Ijaz Satti dies during police raid

Ijaz Satti, a senior vice president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Rawalpindi Cantonment, passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest during a Punjab Police raid on his home on Wednesday night, according to party leadership statements. 

Ijaz Satti had been arrested earlier on Wednesday by the Westridge police. He suffered a heart attack while being transported in a police vehicle. Police left Ijaz Satti's body at DHQ Hospital and departed. Ijaz Satti had also been a PTI candidate from Cantonment Board Ward 6. 

According to PTI leader Omar Ayub Khan, Satti was actively preparing for a visit by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Khan Afridi to Rawalpindi at the time of the raid. 

PTI leaders have strongly condemned the action, attributing the mounting toll of party worker deaths during raids and custody to provincial and federal authorities, while independent observers and supporters have raised serious concerns regarding the circumstances surrounding law enforcement actions during political crackdowns.
