Punjab govt announces free public transport facility for citizens

The Punjab government on Friday announced a major relief initiative by introducing free public transport services across the province.

According to a notification issued by the Punjab Transport Company, citizens will now be able to travel free of cost on government-operated buses throughout Punjab.

The notification stated that passengers will be required to present their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) to avail the free travel facility. Meanwhile, students will have to show their valid student cards to benefit from the initiative.

Officials said the move aims to provide relief to the general public amid rising transportation costs and ensure easier mobility for commuters and students across the province.
