A PIA flight on Tuesday brought back 28 more Pakistani prisoners from Damam released by Saudi Arabia, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The Covid-19 tests of the prisoners who were landed at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport were carried out.

PTI leader Farrukh Habib, Ijaz Chaudhry, Overseas Pakistan Foundation Director Mustafa Haider and Regional Director Syeda Saba Fatima welcomed the released prisoners at the airport.

Reportedly, the government of Pakistan bore the expenses to bring the released inmates from Saudi Arabia back to Pakistan and arranged a PIA flight for this purpose. However, 19 prisoners travelled free while nine paid for their travel.

Before this, 62 prisoners freed by Saudi Arabia came back home on July 20 and landed at Islamabad Airport.

In May, Prime Minister Imran Khan had made a special appeal to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman to release Pakistanis jailed in Saudi Arabia so that they could celebrate Eid with their dear and near ones back home.
