India defies US warnings, continues oil trade with Russia

Despite mounting US pressure, India remains defiant in continuing its crude oil imports from Russia, foreign media reported on Tuesday.

According to reports, Indian companies have not been instructed to halt oil purchases from Russia. The reason cited is that long-term supply agreements are in place, making an overnight halt impossible.

The reports clarify that India has strategic energy deals with Russia, and any immediate disruption could harm national energy interests.

While the United States has expressed concern over India's ties with Moscow amid global sanctions, India appears unmoved, citing economic necessity and pre-existing contracts.

Foreign media emphasised that despite the geopolitical tension, India will maintain oil imports from Russia, highlighting New Delhi’s independent foreign policy approach.
