Lindsay Lohan reveals regrets from her Hollywood past as she prepares for major comeback
Lindsay Lohan is opening up about her turbulent journey through fame, addiction, and reinvention and what she wishes she had done differently during her rise and fall in Hollywood.
Now 39 and on the brink of a major comeback with the upcoming Freaky Friday sequel, the actress has revealed that learning to say 'no' earlier in her career could have changed everything.
Speaking to The Sun, Lohan said: “I was always such a ‘yes’ person to my agents and everyone that no one ever really took the time to ask me, ‘Do you wanna chill for a second?’ And if I knew then what I know now, I’d definitely have used the word ‘no’ a lot more."
The Mean Girls star shot to fame in the early 2000s, quickly becoming one of Hollywood’s most sought-after young talents. But behind the scenes, her personal life was spiralling. Her arrests for DUI, theft, and drug possession, combined with repeated stints in rehab, made headlines and threatened to end her career.
She was eventually dropped from movie sets, replaced in roles, and forced to step away from the spotlight.
In 2016, Lohan took a dramatic turn away from fame, opening a nightclub in Athens and later launching a beach resort in Mykonos.
In a 2018 interview, she revealed that moving to Dubai was a 'fresh start,' allowing her to escape constant paparazzi and celebrity gossip.
“Life here is just different,” she said of her move to the UAE. “You hear more about real current events than celebrity scandals. It gave me the space I needed.”
During her time away, Lindsay also found love. She married financier Bader Shammas and welcomed their first child last year, embracing motherhood and a quieter life.
But in 2022, fans celebrated her return to acting with Netflix’s Falling for Christmas, marking her first leading role in nearly a decade. The film's success led to a two-picture deal with the streaming giant.

Following Falling for Christmas, Lohan starred in Irish Wish, a romantic comedy alongside Ed Speleers and Alexander Vlahos. While critics were divided, most agreed on one thing: Lindsay hadn’t lost her screen presence.
Now, she’s gearing up for her most anticipated role yet, reprising her part as Anna Coleman in Freakier Friday, releasing August 8. The sequel reunites her with Jamie Lee Curtis, more than 20 years after the original Freaky Friday captured audiences worldwide.
Amid her return, fans have also noticed Lindsay’s glowing transformation, a reflection, perhaps, of the stability she has found both professionally and personally.
