Expressing its anger at the police’s failure to recover 14 children who have gone missing from different parts of Karachi, the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday summoned DIG CIA to appear on the next hearing, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During the hearing of a petition filed for the recovery of the children, Justice Naimatullah Pulphoto remarked that it was unfortunate that not much progress had been made in this case. “So DIG CIA is asked to appear in the court and explain as to why the missing children could not be recovered so far,” he added.
Special Investigation Unit (SIU) SSP also appeared in the court.
When Justice Naimatullah Pulphoto asked as to what progress had been made in the case so far, police officials told him that they were trying to recover Nida who was in the custody of Shahid in Ranipur. They further told the SHC that Shahid was also an absconder in one of the cases.
They informed the court that police were placing ads in newspapers so that the missing children could be reunited with their families.
When Justice Pulphoto remarked that police’s failure to trace the girl, Nida, was dishonesty on the part of the Force and inquired as to where was the investigation officer (IO) in this case, he was told that he was on a 10-day leave.
This infuriated the judge who said as to what would the police do if the girl was shifted to some other hideout in the meantime?
The court also ordered Senior Superintendents of Police Khairpur and Jacobabad to speed up efforts for the recovery of Nida.
The court directed police to change the IO in the case in case he failed to trace the missing child.
