APTMA inks MoU with CottonConnect to promote sustainable cotton in Pakistan

The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with UK-based international organisation CottonConnect to promote traceable, sustainable, and regenerative cotton in Pakistan, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.

The agreement was signed by APTMA Chairman Kamran Arshad and CottonConnect Chief Executive Officer Alison Ward, marking the start of a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing transparency in the cotton supply chain from farm to fabric.

Speaking on the occasion, Kamran Arshad said the partnership would encourage modern, environmentally friendly farming practices at the farmer level while strengthening traceability across the industry.

The initiative will also support Pakistani textile mills in meeting sustainability standards required by international buyers and the European Union, he added.

Under the MoU, CottonConnect will closely collaborate with APTMA to train farmers, implement pilot projects, conduct fibre quality surveys, and facilitate connections with global brands, further integrating Pakistan’s textile sector into sustainable international supply chains.
