Service record of new Punjab IG Abdul Karim surfaces

The service record of the newly appointed Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police, Rao Abdul Karim, has surfaced, shedding light on his career details and official standing within the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP).

According to records of the Establishment Division available to 24 NewsHD TV, Rao Abdul Karim’s name appears as Abdul Karim in official documents. He hails from Sindh and is a Grade 21 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan.

Documents show that Abdul Karim was promoted to Grade 21 on August 11, 2023. At the time of his appointment as IG Punjab, his age was recorded as 58 years, 5 months and 2 days, with his date of birth listed as September 1, 1967.

Official records reveal that Rao Abdul Karim belongs to the 24th Common Training Programme (CTP) of the PSP. He joined the police service as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on November 6, 1996.

According to the documents, the appointment of Grade 21 officer Abdul Karim to the Grade 22 post of IG Punjab Police was made under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973.

It has also been stated that Abdul Karim stands at number 31 in the seniority list of Grade 21 officers of the Police Service of Pakistan.
