33 more omicron variant cases in Lahore rings alarm bells

Another 33 cases of omicron variant of the coronavirus has been reported in provincial capital Lahore ringing the alarm bells for authorities and public, 24NewsHD TV channel quoting sources.
As per the latest statistics, the total number of the omicron variant of COVID-19 has now reached 110 in Lahore.
Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid has expressed her concerns on the rise of the omicron variant in metropolis Lahore.
Pertinent to note that in the last two weeks, Pakistan has reported over 100 cases of the new Omicron variant.
Health experts have warned the country may have entered the 5th wave of Covid-19.
National Command and Control Centre (NCOC) said that from Jan 3 (Monday) onwards, citizens over 30 years will be eligible for a booster dose of their choice. The booster will be administered after 6 months gap from the last dose.
“Amid the rising threat of Omicron, Please follow SOPs, wear the mask and ensure complete vaccination/booster dose if eligible,” NCOC said in a tweet.

Moreover, NCOC Head and Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar on Sunday warned against a new wave of Covid-19 amid rising cases of Omicron variant.
The latest warning was issued by the minister through a tweet following rising positive cases of Omicron variant who also urged the public to strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), particularly wearing face masks.
