PML-N lawmaker calls for case against Sh Rashid over train tragedy
A PML-N lawmaker called for registering a case against Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed for the deadly Farooqabad accident as she submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly on Friday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Butt said the minister had turned Railways into a political stage as she also asked the Supreme Court to take suo motu notice of the incident.
At least 20 people were killed and 10 injured when a coaster carrying Sikh pilgrims collided with a train at an unmanned level crossing in Sheikhupura on Friday.
The ill-fated vehicle was going to Peshawar from Nankana Sahib when it collided with Shah Alam Express on Jaatri Road near Farooqabad. A child is also stated to among the dead.
Unfortunately, collisions between the vehicles and trains at railway level crossings are routine news in Pakistan. Most of these crossing are either unmanned or have a poor communication system.
In one of such incidents, the poor system of Pakistan Railways claimed more lives as four family members were killed after their car was hit by a train in Pattoki on the third day of Eid (May 26).
Meanwhile, Hina isn’t alone in expressing her anger, as JUI-F chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said train accidents had become a routine because of the incompetent government and its incompetent ministers.
Similarly, Maulana Asad Mehmood – JUI-F’s parliamentary leader in the National Assembly – said someone must remind the PTI government and the ministers that they used to say before the elections that the siting government was responsible for any accident.
