Health minister seeks report on medicine prices determining mechanism
Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has directed to prepare a complete and analytical report regarding current mechanism for determining the prices of medicines and the effects of the Consumer Price Index, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Chairing an important meeting of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) in Islamabad on Thursday, Health Minister Mustafa Kamal directed that the report should include an assessment of effects of inflation and possible increase in prices.
Chief Executive Officer of DRAP and Additional Secretary Health and other relevant officers participated the meeting.
During the meeting, the Health Minister was given a detailed briefing on the API policy and the Naphtha Cracker project.
Health Minister Mustafa Kamal also directed that a comprehensive and detailed report on the Naphtha Cracker project be submitted soon.
The Health Minister Mustafa Kamal said that Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry has vast export potential, and the government is determined to promote exports in this sector.
He said that a clear and effective policy should be prepared to increase the exports of medicines in Pakistan, so that the country’s economy can be stabilized and the pharmaceutical industry can be promoted.
