Rain, thunderstorms expected in parts of Pakistan on Friday

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast hot and humid weather across most parts of the country on Friday, with chances of rain and thunderstorms in several regions, including Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh, and Kashmir.

In Islamabad and surrounding areas, conditions will remain muggy, although partly cloudy skies with rain and thunder at isolated places are expected. The probability of rainfall is estimated at 45%.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, hot and humid weather will dominate most districts, but rainfall accompanied by thunder is likely in areas such as Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, and Nowshera.

Punjab is also expected to experience oppressive heat and humidity. However, scattered rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms are likely in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Mandi Bahauddin, Okara, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and nearby areas. The department has warned of potentially heavy rainfall in some locations.

In Balochistan, most districts will face hot and humid weather, but places like Barkhan, Kohlu, Musa Khel, Dera Bugti, Loralai, Sibi, Qila Abdullah, Quetta, Ziarat, Bolan, Zhob, Kalat, Mastung, Khuzdar, Awaran, Kharan, and Lasbela could receive rain with strong winds and thunder. Heavy rain is also possible in some spots.

In Sindh, the sweltering heat will persist across most regions, but light to moderate showers with gusty winds and thunder are expected in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, Sukkur, Khairpur, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, and Karachi. Isolated areas may experience heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, in Kashmir, cloudy skies will dominate, with strong winds and thunderstorms expected, along with heavy downpours in some areas. In contrast, Gilgit-Baltistan is expected to remain hot and dry.

Authorities advise citizens to stay updated with local weather alerts and exercise caution during heavy rains, especially in flood-prone and mountainous regions.
