Supreme Court launches E-Filing System nationwide in major digital reform push

In a landmark move towards judicial digitisation and institutional reform, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has officially implemented an E-Filing System across all its registries, including the Principal Seat in Islamabad and branch registries in Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, and Quetta.

According to an official press release, the system enables the electronic submission of petitions, memos, judgments, and orders.

These documents will now be accessible online through the Supreme Court’s Case Management System (CMS) and will also be sent to relevant parties via automated email notifications, significantly reducing paperwork, time, and litigation costs.

The Supreme Court has made registration with the CMS mandatory for all Advocates-on-Record (AORs) and Advocates Supreme Court (ASCs). To facilitate this process, the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) and the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) have been directed to provide updated mobile numbers and email addresses of registered lawyers.

In addition, government departments and institutions have been instructed to nominate focal persons with official contact details to coordinate e-filing matters. These include the Attorney General of Pakistan, the Secretary Cabinet Division, Advocates General, Prosecutors General, and Chief Secretaries of all provinces.

For technical support, the Supreme Court has appointed Malik Sohail Ahmad, Senior Deputy Director (Software), as the primary contact. The e-filing assistance helpline can be reached at 0307-5555645 or 051-9219255, and all relevant details must be sent to ecourt@scp.gov.pk.

This initiative, launched under the vision of the Hon’ble Chief Justice, marks a significant shift towards a more transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric justice system. It aims to streamline court procedures, ensure timely communication, and promote broader access to justice across the country.
