PCB chief visits cricket stadium in Jeddah and inspects various sections
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman and Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi has said that it was a great honour for the PCB to contribute to the splendid journey of cricket in Saudi Arabia, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The PCB chairman visited cricket stadium build at King Fahd Abdulaziz University in Jeddah alongside Chairman of Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation Prince Saud bin Mishal Al Saud on Friday morning.
Mohsin Naqvi inspected various sections of the stadium and examined the nclosures and held detailed discussions regarding proposed changes.
The PCB chairman received a detailed briefing about the stadium, saying the stadium will greatly contribute to the promotion of cricket in Saudi Arabia, and soon international events can be hosted here.
Mohsin Naqvi maintained “I am extremely grateful for the endless support of Chairman of Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation Prince Saud bin Mishal Al Saud.”
A day earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation (SACF) had signed a landmark agreement to develop a modern international-standard cricket stadium in Jeddah, marking a significant step forward in the growth of cricket in the Kingdom.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Mohsin Naqvi and Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation head Prince Saud bin Mishal Al Saud. The two officials also exchanged the signed documents during a formal ceremony.
The agreement was finalised following a meeting between the PCB chairman and senior officials of the Saudi Cricket Federation. Under the partnership, the PCB will provide support for the construction of a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in Jeddah equipped with facilities that meet international standards.
According to the terms of the MoU, the two organisations will work closely on infrastructure development, technical expertise, stadium planning and operational standards.
The project is intended to create a venue capable of hosting international cricket matches and major sporting events.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohsin Naqvi described the agreement as a milestone for the promotion of cricket in Saudi Arabia, saying the partnership would help strengthen the sport and create lasting links between cricket communities in both countries.
He added that the proposed stadium forms part of Saudi Arabia’s broader sports development agenda under Saudi Vision 2030.
The facility will be designed in accordance with international requirements and will offer modern amenities expected at leading cricket venues.
Officials said the project is expected to play a key role in enhancing Saudi Arabia’s ability to host international cricket competitions and other major sporting events.
It is also anticipated to support wider objectives linked to sports investment, sports tourism, public participation and improvements in quality of life.
