Mohsin Naqvi launches cyber helpline 1799

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi officially inaugurated the helpline centre of the National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency (NCCIA) during his visit to its headquarters in Islamabad on Tuesday. 

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the interior minister also gave the green light to the revival of the National Cyber Scouts Programme.

During his visit, Naqvi toured various sections of the agency, including the helpline centre, forensic lab, and network security department. 

The interior minister interacted with the staff and lauded the agency's innovation and professionalism.

The minister instructed relevant officials to ensure the swift resolution of complaints related to cybercrimes and stressed the need for proactive engagement with the public. 

He approved the reactivation of the National Cyber Scouts Programme, which aims to educate and train school and college students about cybercrimes and online safety.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that the NCCIA’s helpline is now fully operational, and citizens can lodge complaints by calling 1799.

Highlighting the growing importance of digital security in the age of artificial intelligence, Naqvi said that institutions like NCCIA are more crucial than ever. 

He emphasised the need for advanced technology, efficient software, and hardware to combat cybercrime, along with hiring competent personnel and providing them with essential resources.

The minister also called for an upgrade plan for the NCCIA headquarters building and ordered immediate steps to address staff shortages. Additionally, he approved a new logo and flag for the agency.

Director General NCCIA Waqar Uddin Syed briefed the Interior Minister on the agency’s ongoing operations and future strategies. 

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Interior Secretary Khurram Agha, and other senior officials were also present at the occasion.
