Case registered against Bannu resident for criticising Ruet-e-Hilal Committee members

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have registered a case against a man under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 allegedly for criticizing the moon sighting body of Pakistan.

According to the media reports, the case has been registered against a resident of Bannu on the complaint of Ayema Mosque Amir Maulana Abdul Ghaffar Qureshi.

The FIR says the accused used inappropriate words against the religious figures in a Facebook post.

Also, the accused claimed that the moon was two days old when its sighting was announced. The accused allegedly said that members of the moonsighting body wasted on day of fasting by announcing moonsighting late.
