Ali Larijani rules out talks with US, blames Trump policies for regional instability

Ali Larijani, head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, on Tuesday ruled out any negotiations with the United States, sharply criticizing US President Donald Trump for what he described as destabilizing policies in the region.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Larijani said that Trump’s “unrealistic decisions” had escalated tensions across the Middle East and placed American soldiers at risk. He accused the former US administration of pursuing policies that undermined regional stability. He said now the US president was expressing concern over the potential loss of American lives.

Larijani further said that the “America First” slogan had effectively become “Israel First,” claiming that US troops were being endangered to safeguard Israeli interests. According to him, the burden of what he termed policy failures was being shifted onto American soldiers and their families.

Rejecting speculation about possible backchannel diplomacy, Larijani dismissed reports suggesting Iranian officials were open to talks with the Trump administration. “There will be no negotiations with the United States,” he said unequivocally.

He also emphasized that Iran’s armed forces had not initiated any aggression, asserting that the country was acting within its right to self-defence.

The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing debate over the future of US-Iran relations.
