Hosuemaid absconds with Rs8m worth of jewellery and watches in Lahore

A servant allegedly fled with jewellery and luxury watches worth approximately Rs8 million from a residence in Lahore’s Nishtar Colony, police said on Tuesday.

According to investigators, the housemaid and her sister had reported for work on their first day when they allegedly stole 11 tolas of gold jewellery and five expensive wristwatches from the house before disappearing.

Police officials revealed that the maid had been hired on the recommendation of the household’s gardener.

Following the incident, the gardener was taken into custody for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.

The theft reportedly occurred on February 27.

A formal case has been registered, and law enforcement authorities have launched a search operation to trace and apprehend the suspects.

Police said further investigation is underway to determine whether the suspects were part of a larger network involved in similar incidents across the city.
