Pakistan squad departs for Bangladesh ahead of crucial test series

Pakistan’s national cricket squad has departed for Dhaka to take part in a two-match Test series against Bangladesh, with the opening match scheduled to begin on 8 May, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

According to the report, the second Test will be played in Sylhet from 16 May, as both sides prepare for an important contest in the longer format of the game.

The team will be led by Shan Masood, who is set to guide a strong and balanced side into the series. 

The squad includes key players such as Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan, along with several other experienced and emerging cricketers. 

The touring party also features Abdullah Fazal, Imad Butt, Azan Awais, Imam-ul-Haq, Saud Shakeel and Salman Ali Agha, while the bowling unit includes Hasan Ali, Khurram Shehzad, Mohammad Abbas, Nauman Ali, Sajid Khan and Mohammad Ghazi Ghori.

The series holds added significance as part of the ongoing World Test Championship. 

Pakistan currently stands in fifth place on the points table, while Bangladesh is positioned eighth. 

With competition for a place in the final intensifying, Pakistan will need to secure victories in both matches to strengthen their chances of remaining in contention.

Officials confirmed that players who are still involved in the final stages of the Pakistan Super League will join the national camp immediately after completing their domestic commitments. 

The team management is hopeful that the full squad will be available in time to ensure proper preparation ahead of the series.
