Pakistan clinches Team Title at 20th World Youth Scrabble Championship
Seven-year-old Taimoor Waseem stuns by winning U-8 World Title in Malaysia
Pakistan has once again won the Team Title at the 20th World Youth Scrabble Championship (WYSC), 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.
This marks the sixth time that Pakistan has secured the prestigious team championship title, further consolidating its reputation as a global powerhouse in the game.
The highlight of the tournament came from seven-year-old Taimoor Waseem, who shocked the Scrabble world by winning the Under-8 World Championship.
Taimoor, the son of renowned scrabble grandmaster Waseem Khatri, earned admiration from fellow competitors and officials alike.
Pakistani players continued to excel across multiple categories.
Ahzam Siddiqui emerged as the Under-16 World Champion, while Muhammad Yusuf claimed a silver medal in the Under-10 age group.
In addition, Bilal Ashar secured second place in the Under-16 category, contributing to Pakistan’s overall dominance.
The championship, which featured 226 players from 20 countries, was the largest youth Scrabble event ever held in terms of participation. Players from across the globe competed fiercely, making Pakistan’s achievements all the more significant.
World Youth Committee Chairman Tariq Pervez announced at the closing ceremony that next year’s championship will be held in Kenya.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani team is set to continue its international journey by participating in the Gateway Masters Cup, scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur from September 5 to 7.
