PM Shehbaz Sharif to visit Malaysia in October for first official trip as premier

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to undertake an official visit to Malaysia next month, marking his first trip to the country since assuming office, diplomatic sources revealed on Wednesday.

Preparations for the visit are currently underway, with a high-level delegation expected to accompany the Prime Minister. During the trip, Shehbaz Sharif will meet Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and hold separate meetings with other Malaysian leaders.

Diplomatic sources said the discussions will focus on strengthening Pakistan-Malaysia relations, with emphasis on boosting bilateral trade, investment, business-to-business cooperation, and people-to-people contacts. Several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and agreements are also expected to be signed during the visit.

The upcoming trip follows Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s three-day official visit to Pakistan in October last year, which was his first to Islamabad as premier.
