Maulana Fazl says elections not acceptable in current dirty environment
Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman demanding electoral reforms has announced that going to the elections in the current dirty environment is not acceptable at all.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Monday, he demanded the Supreme Court immediately declare Deputy Speaker’s ruling null and void.
He also demanded that the security agencies should immediately clarify their position because the role of the establishment in what the government has done cannot be ruled out.
The institutions that have taken credit for neutrality should review the last three years, Maulana said adding that he is not saying that they have not been neutral, but that they should clarify their position.
The PDM chief also demanded that the security agencies should also clarify their position on the matter of the threatening letter.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said Prime Minister Imran Khan has played an unconstitutional game to come into power so the apex court should declare the ruling of the Deputy Speaker null and void.
He said Imran Khan cannot be a hero with one letter. He said it was the no-confidence motion that pushed Imran Khan towards the elections by dissolving the assembly unconstitutionally.
The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) head Maulana Fazlur Rehman also said that the country is currently in a constitutional crisis because the Deputy Speaker has given an unconstitutional ruling.
He appealed to the court to reject the ruling of the Deputy Speaker and Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) should be given the right to vote on the no-confidence motion.
To avoid rigging in future elections, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the electoral reforms should be carried out first and then elections.
Maulana said PM Imran dissolved the assembly on the basis of the presumption of ruling the Deputy Speaker.
