Wohaib Club takes early lead at National Youth & Junior Weightlifting Championship 2026
Wohaib Club dominated the opening day of the 4th HSB National Youth & Junior Inter-Club Weightlifting Championship 2026, held at the Punjab University Grounds, Old Campus, under the organization of the Punjab Weightlifting Association.
According to Media Coordinator Sohail Butt, the two-day championship features 52 weightlifters from 14 clubs representing affiliated provincial and divisional associations across the country. The event aims to promote emerging talent and provide a competitive platform for youth and junior athletes.
The championship was inaugurated by former South Asian champion Adeeb Akram, alongside Chairperson of the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation Madam Nuzhat Jabeen, Organising Secretary Abdul Sattar Rahi, Aqeel Javed Butt, Sheikh Anwar, Aleem Iqbal Dar, Aamir Ali, Kashif Barkat, Muhammad Zahoor, and Asim Akbar. Medals and certificates were distributed among the winners by the dignitaries.
In the 56kg youth category, Muhammad Ali Hussain of Mahmood Shaheed Club Faisalabad secured gold with a total lift of 183kg. Subhan Ali of Subhan Allah Club claimed silver, while Haider of Wohaib Club took bronze.
In the 60kg junior category, host club athlete Muhammad Sameer won gold with a total of 213kg. Lal Ali of A.R.T Club earned silver, and Muhammad Iqbal, also of A.R.T Club, secured bronze.
The 65kg junior category saw Masab Sethi of Wali Club Gujranwala take gold, followed by Ali Hussain of Subhan Club with silver and Hussain Imran of Hajveri Club with bronze.
In the 65kg youth category, Faizan Subhan of Faisalabad claimed the top position, while Sikander of Hajveri Club won silver and Abdul Rahim of Muslim Health Club secured bronze.
Meanwhile, in the 60kg youth category, Abdul Rafay of Punjab College won gold, with Muhammad Haider Ali taking silver.
The championship continues to spotlight Pakistan’s rising weightlifting talent, with organizers aiming to identify future stars for the national setup.
