Hamza Habib speaks out as old Momina Iqbal-Saqib Chadhar video sparks fresh storm
Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal and Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chadhar have once again drawn attention on social media after an old video featuring the two resurfaced, while Momina’s husband Hamza Habib shared a series of strong messages about women’s dignity, the law and public criticism.
The video circulating on social media reportedly shows Momina and Saqib Chadhar together at a mehndi stall, with both appearing to wear masks. Chadhar can be seen writing the initials of his and Momina’s names on her hands before she appears to show them to the camera.
The resurfaced video has brought the past controversy involving the actress and the lawmaker back into online discussions. Some social media users reacted to the clip with jokes and sarcasm, while others criticized pages for sharing what appeared to be private moments.
At the same time, Hamza Habib shared several Instagram stories in which he expressed his frustration with the legal process and spoke about comments made about women’s character.
In one message, Hamza said that people seeking justice can feel helpless because they have to follow legal procedures. He expressed anger over the damage caused to people’s lives and spoke about the frustration of being unable to take immediate personal action because of the law.
In another story, Hamza criticised people who make comments about a woman’s character. He reminded them that they also have women in their families and asked them to consider how they would feel if similar comments were made about their mothers, sisters, daughters or wives.
He also said that men should protect women rather than humiliate them, adding that having a beard and moustache does not by itself make someone a man.
Hamza also shared a message about women taking their personal issues to social media. He said women may turn to social platforms when they feel that their voices are not being heard through legal channels.
He further said that when people who initially speak for a woman later start questioning her for raising her voice, she can feel helpless. The message also highlighted the serious emotional pressure that such situations can create and called for greater understanding towards women seeking justice.
The posts come as the dispute involving Momina Iqbal and Saqib Chadhar continues to receive attention online. Momina has previously spoken about the matter during an appearance with journalist Irshad Bhatti, where she reportedly presented digital material and other records to support her account of the dispute.
The actress has maintained that the material supported her version of events, while Chadhar has disputed the allegations against him.
