Karachi plane crash: Heirs of each victim to get Rs10m

The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the heirs of Karachi plane crash will be paid Rs10 million per passenger under insurance head.
The national airline has already paid Rs1 million per passenger for funeral and burial.
PIA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Air Marshal Arshad Malik is being credited to make this happen after his talks with the insurance company remained successful. Previously the heirs were to be paid Rs5 million. Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan praised the PIA CEO efforts for the achievement.
According to a PIA spokesperson, the increased insurance amount is in addition to the amount already paid. Work in this regard has been completed and a succession certificate is now awaited from the heirs who are being informed through letters.
