Imran Khan’s escape out of question: Information minister

Says govt to send declaration against PTI to Supreme Court

August 4, 2022 10:53 PM

Federal Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said the PTI leader’s escape is out of the question.

“If there is an attempt to go out, the ECL law will take its course. The FIA has been given a big responsibility after the ECP PTI fund verdict, the information minister said while talking to 24NewsHD TV.

She added: A transparent and impartial investigation into 16 accounts started. The FIA, FBR and other agencies concerned will jointly work to dig into it.

“It is a matter of Election Commission Act 2017 and PPO 2002 which the government must implement. The nation is aware of the real face of foreign agents.”

The minister said the government decided to send a declaration against the PTI to the Supreme Court in light of the ECP decision.

"The verdict clearly showed that PTI is a foreign-aided party," she asserted, explaining that under the law and Constitution, the government was now bound to send a declaration to the apex court.

The law ministry was given a time of three days to prepare the declaration and present it at the next federal cabinet meeting.

In a reaction to Imran Khan’s address, she said the nation is familiar with the faces of those who took funding from Indians and Israelis and the face of their mastermind.

She said that “foreign agent” Imran Khan admitted to all his crimes today. The minister said that Imran asked the people to come out to protest but he himself was hiding in his palace.

She said instead of making speeches, Imran Khan should have answered the questions of the Election Commission of Pakistan for eight years.
