Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has summoned a meeting of the Council of Common Interests tomorrow (Saturday), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Reportedly, the prime minister has directed to convene the CCI tomorrow to ponder over the issue of census.

The new census and other matters would also be presented before the Council of Common Interests for approval.

The CCI meeting will be attended by chief ministers of all four provinces. Besides them, the federal ministers would also be attending the huddle.

Recently, the prime minister said that the forthcoming general elections will be held as per the new census.

However, the Pakistan Peoples Party has expressed its reservations over it, saying that the new census required new delimitations which was not possible in three months.

The National Assembly and two provincial assemblies of Sindh and Balochistan are completing their constitutional terms on Aug 12.

Prime Minister Shehbaz announced during a dinner hosted in honour of the government allies at the PM House on Thursday night that he would dissolve the National Assembly on August 9.

According to the Constitution, if the premier dissolves the assembly, it means that the election will be held within 90 days after the dissolution. But if the assembly expires on its own, it means that the election must be held in 60 days.

But the government wants to have more time for the election preparation. Hence, the PM decides to dissolve the assembly on Aug 9.
